S-Network ITG Agriculture Index℠ Selected as Underlying Index for European ETF

S-Network ITG Agriculture Index℠ Selected as Underlying Index for European ETF

S-Network ITG Agriculture Index

New York City (PRWEB) October 1, 2008

The S-Network ITG Agriculture Index℠ (TICKER: AGRI), a leading financial indicator of the global agriculture industry, has been selected as the underlying index for an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) listed on European stock exchanges. The ETFS S-Network ITG Global Agri Business Fund is sponsored by London based asset manager, ETF Securities (ETFS).

The ETF is registered in Ireland and has been listed on both the Irish Stock Exchange (TICKER: ETLH ID) and the Amsterdam Stock Exchange (TICKER: MOOO NA). ETFS plans to cross list the ETF on other European and international stock exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange.

The S-Network ITG Agriculture Index℠, published by S-Network Global Indexes, is the definitive benchmark index for agriculture stocks from around the world. Entirely rules-based, the index contains a fixed number of 30 stocks, covering the following four primary agricultural sectors: a) Seeds, Chemicals and Fertilizers, b) Equipment and Irrigation, c) Commodity Agricultural Products and d) Livestock Producers.

Says Joseph LaCorte, Chairman of the S-Network ITG Agriculture Index Committee, “World population is expected to increase by over 1 billion over the next ten years, creating increased demand for the inputs to agricultural production, such as seeds, fertilizers and equipment. The AGRI index captures the performance of these primary agriculture companies.”

As a European-registered fund, the ETFS S-Network ITG Global Agri Business Fund is not open to investment by US persons.
