Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 27, 2011

Ship Strong for America (shipstrong.org), an organization dedicated to preserving the strength of our nation’s maritime industry and homeland security, urges Secretary Napolitano to fully enforce American shipping laws and stand strong for American shippers and ship builders.

“Violating federal law should not be a business as usual business practice at the expense of American shipping jobs,” said Tony Munoz, director for Ship Strong for America. “The American shipping industry urges the Department of Homeland Security to fully enforce the laws that protect our nation’s maritime industry.”

In addition to building U.S. commercial ships, the American maritime industry builds America’s military vessels, which protect our boarders, sail the seven seas and keep Americans safe at home or abroad.

Further, Ship Strong encourages Escopeta Oil & Gas to embark its foreign vessel on foreign soil, and turn the tug around.

ATC Campus Helps Students Capitalize on Automotive Industry Job Growth

ATC Campus Helps Students Capitalize on Automotive Industry Job Growth

Surrey, BC (PRWEB) July 21, 2011

The Automotive Training Centre (ATC), a leading automotive training college, is helping students capitalize on the post-recession rebirth of the Canadian automotive industry with a state-of-the-art campus in Surrey BC.

The Canadian automotive industry is the sixth largest on the planet, accounting for 25% of the country’s exports. Nevertheless, the economic downturn, accelerated automation and global warming have posed tough challenges, and in 2009, new car sales and industry jobs decreased. The industry, however, has since bounced back, and Canada’s share of North American light-vehicle production is now at an all-time high.

The rejuvenated strength of the industry’s biggest players, coupled with technological advances and the looming retirement of baby boomers, point to very bright job prospects in many segments of the auto industry. “New vehicle sales are also up a few percentage points over last year, so the economics and employment opportunities are there,” says ATC director Zyg Strecha.

To help students prepare for these tremendous career opportunities, ATC opened its newest campus last year in Surrey, BC. Situated on two acres of land, the centrally located campus boasts over 15,000 square feet of cutting edge training facilities. The campus’ repair shop features six large modern classrooms and provides students with seven bays, four hoists, a modern scanner for vehicle diagnostics and emissions testing, welding equipment, alignment hoists and more. On the auto body side, the campus offers five bays, a modern paint booth and mixing room and much more.

The Automotive Training Centre in Surrey is Accredited by PCTIA (Private Career Training Institutions Agency). The school offers career training in Automotive Service Technician, Auto Body Technician, Automotive Service Operations, Auto Sales and Business Management Training.

Conflict of Interest Controls Tightened for Plastic Surgeons

Conflict of Interest Controls Tightened for Plastic Surgeons

Arlington Heights, Ill. (PRWEB) April 28, 2011

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has adopted new guidelines designed to promote ethical interactions between its member physicians and the medical industry. The document entitled, “Considerations for Interactions with Industry,” provides detailed recommendations for appropriate collaborations between individual plastic surgeons and pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device companies in an effort to prevent industry support from biasing a physician’s professional activities or judgments.

“Collaborations between physicians and industry are necessary as they enhance the practice of medicine,” said ASPS President Phillip Haeck, MD. “Following these new guidelines will help to ensure that interactions with industry will be for the benefit of patients and remain consistent with AdvaMed and PhRMA Industry guidelines.”

The document details standards related to the acceptance of gifts, educational products, meals and entertainment from industry; protocols for seeking industry support for educational programs; consulting arrangements; promotional speaking — and the regulations associated with each.

“The new guidelines are voluntary and serve as a recommendation for behavior that our members should adhere to,” said Dr Haeck. “Our members’ primary duty is to act in the best interest of patients and it’s vital they be independent and industry’s ability to influence professional judgements be limited.”

To view the document, “Considerations for Interactions with Industry,” visit the ASPS website at http://www.psnextra.org/Articles/Compliance-Guidelines.html.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is the largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons in the world. Representing more than 7,000 physician members, the Society is recognized as a leading authority and information source on cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. ASPS comprises more than 94 percent of all board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States. Founded in 1931, the Society represents physicians certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery or The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
